21 Weeks Today

This week the baby is just over 10 inches (27 centimeters) long and weighs 13 ½ ounces (380 grams). It is not really huge yet but he is gaining a few more ounces every week. It is doing it's best to get stronger and to give all the good substances that it receives from mommy a place in his body. Mommy's uterus has grown up beyond the height of your navel now and gradually it's getting time for maternity clothing.
The baby moves an average of 200 times per day. In two months that will be up to 500 times per day. Towards the end of the pregnancy, movements will be slower and more intense as there is less room for it to move around. That doesn't bother it at all because thanks to mommy's swaying movements it sleeps most of the day anyway. it will always be able to move it's hands and feet and mommy will feel the kicks up until the last moment.
Mommy now may notice a regular, rhythmic, rapid thumping in your belly - your baby is hiccupping! Hiccups are a normal reflex of the diaphragm. One baby has it more often than another.
