Summer Vacation 2011

Ethan and I spent our summer vacation up North visiting family. Daddy couldn't take any time off, but that didn't stop us from having a lot of fun!

Friday we spent the day with Papa Lessard. We drove around Dayton and picked apples from little spots that my Dad used to take me when I was a little girl. It was a great trip down memory lane!

After a busy afternoon with Papa, we stopped to see Uncle Rick at work while we waited for Auntie Nancy to get home from work. While we waited Uncle Rick took Ethan for a ride on the fork lift and let him sit on the tractor.

Later we had a little visit with Auntie Nancy before heading back to lind River for the night.

Saturday morning we had an early visit with Meme. We went to two parks and had a nice visit at her apartment. She gave Ethan lots of books and some treats from New Brunswick!

After our visit with Meme we headed back to Iron Bridge. Auntie Nancy, Tristin and Bryce brought us our to Cedar Rail Ranch to introduce Ethan to the horses. We tried really hard to get him up on the horse with Tristin but he just wasn't ready for it. He did get a kick out of all the horse poo every where and began yelling "I love poop!" What a turkey!

Singing "I love poop!"

Huh?

After an afternoon at the ranch we went to Aunt Tania's for a home cooked meal.
Ethan and Bryce were pretending to ride the four-wheeler.

Then Tristin brought Ethan for a real ride!

It was such a beautiful day!

After our big dinner we went back to Auntie Nancy's brother-in-laws kids: Wyatt (2) and the twins Jeremy and Jasper (4 mos). Ethan had a blast playing with Wyatt!

Sunday we were so exhausted that we just relaxed and watched movies all day!

On Monday we were back out and about, starting with poutines from The Spud Buggy!

After a heavy lunch Ethan helped Grandpa plant a couple of trees.

Of course, he had to be silly in between tree planting!

After a busy day outside we headed back to Iron Bridge for some good old fashion Delmar's chicken and jojos for supper at Auntie Nancy's. Mmmmmm

Tuesday was our last full day in Blind River and luckily, a nice hot sunny day. We took this opportunity to head out on Grandpa and Grandma's new boat! Ethan was so excited for his first boat ride.

We found a nice little beach and brought Ethan for his first real swim - the water was freezing so we didn't stay in long. He was more interested in fishing with Grandpa, another first!

After a tough day of swimming and fishing we had a picnic.

Time to call it a day. Grandma and Ethan on the boat.

We had a great trip. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for being such gracious hosts!

Glad to be back home with Daddy!

16 Week Doctor's Appointment

So, we are 16 weeks already. I cannot believe how time is flying.

This week I started to feel light flutters from the baby, the first kicks!

I did part 2 of the IPS testing today. We didn't do this testing with Ethan, but we really wanted the 12 week ultrasound. Part 2 was just blood work. This screening test combines measurements from a nuchal translucency ultrasound and two blood tests to estimate the chances of a developing baby having Down syndrome.

The IPS takes into account the measurement of the ultrasound and the level of the proteins and other substances measured in the blood tests. It then adjusts for the woman’s age and gives a numerical estimate of the chance of Down syndrome, such as 1/2000 or 1/8.

After the blood work I had my monthly visit with our doctor. They measured my belly and I got to hear the heartbeat again, this time it was 150 beats per minute... Ethan as always 160, wonder if this means it's a girl? We'll find out August 25!

Lots of Love,
Tiffany, Jonathan, Ethan and baby #2

Ethan's pretend 4th Birthday!
Aunt Kelly bought a cake for dessert. When Ethan saw it he said "It's a Birthday cake!" so I jumped in and said "Happy Birthday Ethan" to which he replied "Now I'm 4 like Maurice!" - We explained that he was only 4 for the day and he was fine with that.

Baby on Board!

We are proud to announce that we are expecting our second baby January 27, 2012!

We found out May 21, 2011. We were in a lot of shock and disbelief but have embraced this exciting news! It was an early birthday present for Daddy. We decided to keep this quiet until the 12 week mark just to be safe.

On Friday July 15, I had my first prenatal doctor's appointment and got to hear our new babies heartbeat for the first time. After this appointment I had my first ultrasound. We decided to do the IPS tesing this time (so we could have an early ultrasound). Seeing our baby for the first time was such an exciting moment. This has made this so much more real for us.

Daddy didn't come with me but on my way back to work I stopped to show him the ultrasound. I was delighted top see him snag the paper and hug it to his body before he darted inside to make a photocopy to show his co-worker.

The babies heartbeat was 162 beats per minute. Ethan was a constant 160 beats per minute - could this mean a baby boy? We'll have to wait 6 more weeks!

What do you think?

We have been talking to Ethan a lot of about the baby. He even told his teachers at school that "mommy has a baby in her belly" and the other day Ethan was having ice cream and I didn't - Ethan them told me "Ice cream isn't good for the baby".

We are excited for the next chapter of our lives.

Summer is here!

"Camp-outing" as Ethan would say - Ethan decided we needed to going "Camp-outing". So we bought marshmallows and made a tent in the living room. Mommy baked smores in the oven and we pretended to roast marshmallows over an imaginary fire.
