It seems like I am forever playing catch up these days. So many times a week I say “I have to write my blog today” and I just don’t get around to it. I am always writing myself little notes hoping that I don’t forget to write about something.
While I was home on maternity leave it felt like every blog was marking something eventful in our lives, since I’ve been back to work and since Ethan has been 1, it seems that the events have slowed down, that is, until he turned 16 months!
As I mentioned in my last blog, Ethan started to repeat a few words here and there, and now there is no stopping this boy. He repeats everything! He not only repeats words, but he knows what they are. This morning when I was getting ready for work he asked daddy for water. So cute. Not to mislead, he doesn’t say “water daddy” he just said “water” and points to the fridge. But that is exciting enough for me!
Here are a few “word” stories about the first time Ethan used certain words…
“Push”
This is one of his first repeat words, I was getting Ethan dressed one day and simply told him “push” to get his arm through his sleeve. I was elated when he echoed “puss” “puss”.
“Bread”
We were in the kitchen one day and Ethan thought it would be a great idea to start eating the load of bread through the plastic bag and all. I said “Ethan, don’t eat the bread” and I took the loaf away. As I sat the bread on the counter Ethan says “bread?” too cute.
“More”
This has to be one of my favourites, that’s why I have included two “more stories”. The first was one night after dinner. Ethan didn’t eat very much so I gave him a strawberry. I was sitting on the couch watching TV when I heard “mow”, I looked up at him… “did you day more?” So I got him another strawberry, and to my amazement when he was done he said it again “mow”… the was repeated a few more times (he really likes strawberries!).
The other weekend I was putting Ethan to bed, we always say good night to daddy and then mommy tucks him in. As I kissed him and laid him down in his crib he said “mow”, so I responded with “you want more kisses?” and I gave him another kiss, then he says “mow daddy”, it was so touching, so of course I holler “Jon!” and doesn’t Ethan holler “don”… It was so priceless, so daddy came and gave Ethan so more kisses just as he had asked for.
Ethan loves buses.. It is so cute to hear him say bus when we pass one in the car. The other day I thought it would be cute to show him pictures of buses on my laptop. Now every time he sees the computer he wants me to show him buses!
There are so many stories like these, but I’ll spare you the details.
“15 Month Doctor’s Appointment”
With August being so busy with the wedding, we postponed Ethan’s 15 month doctor’s appointment to September 25. Ethan just over 24 lbs. now and has grown 8 cms since his 12 month appointment. The doctor says he is tall for his age. Ethan was supposed to get his vaccines at this appointment but he had a bit of a fever. Dr. Parikh said he just has a little virus and that we should come back in a week. We went back on October 2 and got him his needles.
Playing With Daddy
Letting The Creative Juices Flow...
Ethan LOVES to colour!!
What is it with kids, why don't they like to colour on the paper?
You colour on the floor, you have to clean it up.
Helping Mom Around The House
Ethan still LOVES the vacuum. He hugs the vacuum almost everyday, it really is a strange fascination he has. I am all about making his dreams come true...
Baking Bread
He just wanted to get messy!
Making bread with a 16 Month old isn't as easy as you would think.
We had so much fun!
2nd Thanksgiving
We didn't make it back home for Thanksgiving this year, but thankfully, Aunt Kelly and Uncle Shawn moved just outside of London so we had a nice warm Thanksgiving dinner. Ethan loves turkey dinner.
Playing With Mommy
Ethan loves to run around the house! The other day we were playing and Ethan closed himself in his room, I heard him saying "Mama?" so I grabbed my camera. We was so happy to see me, until he saw the camera. I guess he thought the game was over. Poor boy.
