17 months was a tough one for our boy. Three days before Ethan turned 17 months he got a cough, 4 ½ weeks later, it’s still here. We called “TeleHealth Ontario” to get some guidance. It is scary this year with the H1N1 virus. We don’t want to take any chances with our precious boy. They advised us to try giving him honey, warm beverages, steam and of course call back if his symptoms worsen. Well a week later nothing had changed so we called back, this time they suggested a visit to our family doctor. That Wednesday (a week and a half into the cough now) Daddy brought Ethan to see Dr. Parikh. Again we were told to “keep an eye on it”, but he also mentioned if it did last another week or two to come back and we would consider trying an inhaler. Fast-forward two weeks (3.5 wks into this cough), Thursday November 5 I brought Ethan to the doctor, then we were hoping to get the “ok” to get his H1N1 vaccine even with his current cough. Unfortunately Ethan had developed a fever. The doctor gave us a prescription for his inhaler and told us if he worsened overnight to come back. The next day Ethan was in rough shape, back to the doctor’s. I was sitting in the doctor’s office with our 17 month old, usually full of energy little boy, curled up in my arms with a fever, water dripping from his eyes, yellow-green gunk in his eyes and a running noise. I found myself rocking him almost in tears, where was my little boy? It is so heart breaking to see your child so broken down, I just want him to be back to himself. After this visit to the doctor’s we found out Ethan picked up an ear infection in both ears. We left with a prescription. That weekend was tough. Ethan was not himself, he was lethargic, and most concerning to me, he wasn’t eating. Luckily he was drinking a lot of juice, water and milk. This lasted for about 6 days before we started to see our little boy acting like himself again. Each day we would have a glimmer of our Ethan, but it would only last an hour or so. The hardest was seeing him trying to walk, but staggering all over (his equilibrium was off because of the ear infection). It’s been a week and a day since he was diagnosed with an ear infection and our boy is back to himself finally! However, that blasted cough is still here, and worse, 5 weeks today since it started.
Despite the bumpy last week we always manage to have a lot of fun when we are not sick!
Ethan likes to wear my "Bride to be" sash from my bachelorette party!

Putting his crown on...

He loves to poor water from one glass to the other. I think he must have picked this up from us pooring our drink into his glass for him to try.... note to self, you have a child, think before you do things that might look really cool to a toddler.

He makes me laugh so much!

The other day Ethan got his sand pail stuck on his head! He had the bucket on his head and the handle was stuck under his noise! I had to squish his noise plat to get the handle loose! Needless to say I took the handle off so this wouldn't happen again!
Daddy went to Ottawa, so Mommy thought it would be a good idea to make bean bags. At daycare they encourage the children to toss the bean bags instead of other items that might hurt someone, so I thought this would be good to so at home. I think we will be fining rice for the next 6 months!

Ethan trying to ride on his Tonka truck.

Ethan is very independent, he really wanted to eat the apple with the skin on.

Big bite!
