18 Months

18 Months

So our boy is 18 months already!
It is so scary how time flies. 18 months, a year and half ago Ethan came into the world. It feels like so long ago. This little guy has brought so much joy to so many people. I never could have imagined how much love one baby could receive and spread. We are so blessed to have so many loved ones in Ethan’s life. When I grew up I had a great-grandma and a grandma, both passed away while I was young. As for aunts and uncles, for coming from such a huge family, they were surprisingly few and far between. This is why it brings me so much joy to see how many people love and genuinely care for our son. How could you not? He is such a joy. I am anxiously counting the days until we are home for Christmas so we can share our boy with his family. Ethan told me this morning that all he wants for Christmas are some of Grandma Debbie’s “Velma Cookies”, he really really enjoys them.

Ethan loves his fire helmet!

At daycare I was told that Ethan unzipped and took of his own jacket all by himself! What a big boy. Beside his cubby at daycare there is a picture of an elephant and a brunette woman zookeeper. Ethan points to it and says “Mama!”. He genuinely thinks it’s me. I wonder if he find comfort in having “pictures of me” all over, as he seems to think any brunette woman is his mama. I love my boy.

Ethan likes to drink the bath water from a lego!

Friday (Nov 20) morning I was getting Ethan ready for daycare. I was changing his diaper and was surprised to find a big, messy number two… “What is this?” I exclaimed. To my surprise Ethan replies “Poop!” (although he pronounces it “pup”). So hilarious!

This is so cute...

Everyday when I lock the car it beeps to indicate it is locked, Ethan has picked up on this and says “beep” after the horn goes, and the other day he was driving his car on daddy and said “beep beep”. I love these stories.

Look at this messy hair!

November 22nd Ethan and I set up the Christmas tree. Ethan thought it was so cool when we put the tree up. Decorating was a bit of a challenge, everything I put on the tree Ethan was taking off right behind me.

Taking the decorations off as I was putting them on.

He only broke one ball! He was so excited to see the tree that he ran and grabbed daddy to show him. The next day he was so excited to see the tree was still there. He likes to take the balls off the tree, we have now had too many broken balls to count, we actually have a “bald spot” on the tree where he selects his next victim from.

Ethan found the box for the Christmas balls and decided it was time to un-decorate the tree!

To end our festive weekend we watched “Frosty the Snowman” or as Ethan would call it, a “moody” (movie). After the movie was done Ethan started to say “Happy Birthday” (sounds like happy birdy) just like frosty does when he puts on his hat. So silly.

My boy.

One night last week Ethan didn’t want to sleep so we had a “party” in mommy’s bed. We watched TV and ate berries. Ethan eats just like his daddy, digs through the berries to find which ones he likes (in this case blueberries) and shovels them into his mouth as fast as he can! It was so funny I had to just stop and watch him, one after another, he was going so fast a couple missed his mouth completely. I am sure this bright idea of mine left a few berry stains on our bedding, oops. While we were snacking Ethan noticed his hands were dirty and said “mess” so I grabbed a piece of tissue and wiped his hands. Then he saw that I had a bunch of chipped nail polish on my nails and he pointed saying “dirty”, then he grabbed a piece of tissue and tried to wipe it off. We had such a fun night, I was surprised to find out that Ethan knows most of his body parts (eyes, nose, mouth, ears, feet, toes, hands, legs, belly). This boy amazes me daily.

I decided to try to exercise while Ethan was still up... he crawled all over me!

I wrote this blog over a couple of weeks, I wanted to remember every little story, but didn’t have time to publish it online. Here are a couple more “Ethan Moments” that I wanted to share.

Friday my girlfriend Barbara come over, she is a newlywed anxious to start her own family, so she just loved playing and chasing Ethan around the house. Ethan was so dissapointed to see her leave we walked around the apartment saying “Bobwa” over and over again after she left.

He wanted his shoes on so badly, so daddy put them on him.

Saturday, Ethan and I had a busy day while Daddy was working, so we thought we’d be lazy and pick up a Pizza. While we waited for the Pizza I thought we would zip across the parking lot to the grocery store and grab some juice boxes. Suddenly Ethan starts pointing at the moon (gotta love how it is pitch black outside by 5:30pm!), so I told him “That’s the moon.” He continues to point and starts to say “Hi!” over and over again as we crossed the parking lot. What a sweet little boy, saying hi to the moon.

Our friend Sara come by and gave Ethan his first Christmas gift this year!

Again, Ethan didn’t feel like sleeping, so we were hanging out watching tv and I asked “Do you want some blueberries?” and Ethan jumped off the couch and ran to the kitchen saying “Blueberries!” I pulled the package out of the fridge and Ethan says “Whoa” and runs to the couch to wait, then I hear “Mommy?” I guess I wasn’t fast enough for his liking.

We got Ethan his second haircut!

This is a LONG video, so I saved it for the end. Enjoy.
