Our 1 Year Old!

As you all know, Friday May 15 I started back to work. It was really hard for me, I cried regularly the three weeks leading up to the big day. I had been bringing Ethan to daycare for short periods for him to get used to it. But that morning it was so hard. I dropped him off, and he cried, it was so hard leaving him while he was crying for me. I had to keep myself distracted to hold back the tears, so I cranked the radio and sang as loud as I could. Have you ever tried to cry and sing... it isn't easy... It really helped me keep my mind off of leaving Ethan. Of course being my first day back everyone and their dog asked about Ethan and how the morning went, I almost cried about 10 times before lunch! To my surprise it got easier as the day went, and I was lucky to be able to leave at 2:30, so I went and picked up my boy. The woman at the daycare said he was great, he cried a bit when I left, but after that he played and napped and even ate his lunch well. I hope it continues to get easier.

Day 4 & 5 of daycare Ethan didn't cry!!! And day 6, he reach for "Nana"... He is very comfortable there now! Our daycare ladies name is Farhana, which is a but tricky for kids to say, so they all call her Nana.

We had our first toilet mishap... Ethan put two for his bath toys in the toilet!!! And a few days later I caught him just before my car keys went for a swim! Good timing. He seems fascinated by the toilet, we have to make sure the door stays closed, or you never know what might end up in there!

We've also started Ethan on whole milk. No more expensive formula!!! WooHoo! We are also getting ready to turn his car seat from rear-facing to forward! How exciting. I wonder if this will change the way he feels about sitting in the car? I hope not. This Friday (May 29) He will have his 1 year doctors appointment, hopefully he will be heavy enough to turn his car seat to forward facing! Can't wait!

Ethan loves to play with the car keys, and now he knows how to lock the car, and lock it again and again - the horn beeps! So the entire walk into the apartment you can hear our car horn beeping away..

I make it a point to spend a lot of time with Ethan now that I am back to work, so every night it is part of our routine to go for a walk before bath time. We tend to stop at the park 3-4 times a week, he loves the swing and went down the slide all by himself for the first time this week! The other day we were walking past the park and I noticed him leaning out the side of his stroller and point at the park. It was so priceless, he actually recognizes the park and he knows that's where he wants to go! So of course we stopped for a ride on the swing and a couple slides.
